I just wanted to pop into your inbox to share my latest small sculpture, “Ten of Mushrooms” created for Helvella Art’s Mushi Mushi 3 mushroom-themed show opening this Saturday, August 24th.

My piece is inspired by the ten of swords card in the tarot:
I happened to pull this card this morning, which I was actually delighted by! This is probably not a card that delights most people. It’s often interpreted as a card about the death of a cycle, acceptance, and surrender.
This is the first week of the Fall semester and for the last couple of years, I get really freaking stressed prepping course materials for the college animation classes I teach. It’s the back-to-school jitters. I do enjoy teaching quite a bit - and I had a really difficult but lovely revelation about the “ghost stress” that had me in its grips last week, which I would like to relate to the Ten of Mushrooms.
I’ll have to save that story for another newsletter though, because it’s bedtime and I have an early morning class tomorrow!
